We have been supplying the textile industry with durable and efficient yarns and textiles. We export our products to a variety of industries since 2006. For us, the term, Long-life textiles, is a guiding principle that shapes our mindset and our actions. According to the Textile Export Council, Mediterranean Textile Company is considered one of the best Egyptian spinners and the largest exporter of high-quality yarns.
Nowadays, the textile industry is in a state of flux. MTC is one of the best spinners in Egypt. Therefore, we understand the importance of the ethical and ecological standards of manufacturing our products.
Mediterranean Textile Company has a clear goal to improve ecological and social conditions along the textile supply chain in the long term.
With our commitment, we give people who work on our textiles a good perspective and simultaneously promote production technologies that have a minimal environmental impact.
MTC adopted a sustainability strategy back in 2006 and has been expanding and enhancing it continuously since then. For us, sustainability is a virtuous process. We don’t propose a certification, but an approach to sustainability. This approach defines the standards for a sustainable textile industry. It is a process of progressive improvement, which has positive effects for the company since it triggers a virtuous cycle.
The textile industry value chain is long and full of challenges. MTC assumes responsibility here and is committed to human rights, environmental protection, and health. We aim to adopt Eco-Friendly practices in all our textile operations through optimal use and conservation of all resources. We ensure the implementation of environmental management practices through air, water, and land management. Then we Incessantly comply with all applicable statutory regulations and legislation. We optimize procedures in line with Environmental Management System. Finally, we undertake an untiring effort to spread environmental awareness among the stakeholders and the community at large. We have adopted the high standards of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and FAIRTRADE because quality needs standards. We limit the use of toxic bleaches, dyes, and other chemical inputs during the production process of textiles.
1. Small farmers
During the cultivation of organic cotton by small farmers: We use organic seeds; blooming of hope for our customers. We strive to build a sense of belonging in them for our products.
2. Cooperatives
They support the small farmers through the guaranteed purchase of the cotton harvest. The “roof” of the cooperative offers security and other advantages such as:
–Training and support for farmers
–Purchase of cotton at fair prices
-Investments in regional infrastructure products
3. Ginning
Ginning involves extracting the seeds from the harvested plants. These seeds can be used again by the farmer, therefore they do not have to buy it externally. The units follow the best work practices, therefore give no room for any foreign fibre contamination. Therefore it saves resources and brings further benefits, such as:
– Automated separation of fibers from seeds
-Ginning without the use of hazardous chemicals
-Availability of new organic seeds for small farmers
4. Spinning
We strongly believe in the organic way of cotton cultivation. We also believe in Eco-friendly ways of converting the raw material into finished product for better sustainable ways of production. The production facilities for the processing of organic cotton are all Fair-trade certified and comply with the strict specifications. Such as:
– Socially responsible production
-Neither child nor forced labour
-Observance of workplace safety regulations
All units – spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing & finishing and garmenting are GOTS certified for processing organic cotton. We specialize in both conventional and organic fabrics. Such as: Cotton compact yarns, Organic cotton yarns (GMO free), Core spun yarns, Wool yarns, Mercerized yarns, Cotton sewing threads, Crochet yarns, Cotton/Linen blend yarns, Cotton/silk blend yarns, Cashmere blend yarns, lyocell & lyocell/cotton blend yarns, and bamboo & bamboo/cotton blend yarns.
